Consultation

The following local contraindications will not prevent treatment but your therapist will avoid the contraindicated area:

  • Varicose Veins

  • Undiagnosed Lumps or Bumps

  • Bruising/Swelling

  • Cuts/Abrasions

  • Sunburn

  • Undiagnosed Pain

  • Arthritis

  • Broken Bones

  • Skin Conditions (Active Eczema, Dermatitis, Psoriasis)

Please seek medical advice prior to booking a Massage treatment if you have any of the following. Medical permission in writing would need to be obtained:

  • Check any condition that is already being treated by a GP or another practitioner

  • Cardio-Vascular Conditions (Thrombosis, Phlebitis, Hypertension, Heart Conditions)

  • Any condition already being treated by a medical practitioner

  • Medical Oedema

  • Osteoporosis

  • Cancer

  • Nervous Or Psychotic conditions

  • Heart Conditions (Thrombosis, Phlebitis, Hypertension, Angina, Pacemakers)

  • Epilepsy

  • Bell's Palsy, trapped or pinched nerves

Please do not book for a Massage treatment if you currently have any of the following:

  • Fever

  • Contagious Diseases

  • Under the influence (drugs, alcohol, prescription pain medication)

  • Neuritis

  • Skin diseases (impetigo, scabies, chicken pox, mumps)

  • Pregnancy

Pre-treatment Advice

  • Please shower prior to your appointment

  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment

Aftercare Advice

  • Drink plenty of water. Water helps the body flush out the toxins

  • Practice deep breathing exercises and relax your shoulders

  • Avoid drinking alcohol, tea and coffee. These contain toxins and can dehydrate the body

  • Eat light meals and include fresh salad, vegetables and fruit

  • Allow yourself as much time as possible to continue to relax

Ongoing Care

  • Find a time for regular gentle exercise

  • Find time for regular relaxation

  • Eat a healthy, balanced diet


Possible Side Effects:

It is perfectly normal to feel a little different after having a massage. Therefore you may experience the following:

  • Headache

  • Nausea

  • Thirst

  • Sore throat

  • Tiredness

  • Aches and Pains

This is only temporary, and is due to the flushing out of the toxins released by the massage treatment. Drinking plenty of water and herbal tea often helps reduce or alleviate these symptoms.
